here is a solution I stumbled across that may help ... I tried reserving IRQs and any other setting I could think of in WIN 98.I tried installing 3 different distro's of linux, they all hung on install ( they all worked This could be something like "FDC Failure" or it would lock up while trying to load 'msmouse.vxd'. I have spoken to other people who have had 98 msmouse.vxd and other *.vxd files causing loading problems.
