If you did not create the XP recovery discs, you can order a replacement set of XP discs from HP. warning: If the computer was not designed for Vista, HP does not provide support, drivers, or software for improperly upgraded computers. You can also access manually this file by going to C:\Windows but I like the run method, it’s more technical.

  3. Using the HP Recovery discs will only return the computer to the original edition of Vista.
  4. You will have to run Windows Update again to add the missing updates that you just skipped by disabling the service and so skipping a step in the whole process.

SO FIX IT!!! I always recommend using the installer package that you download yourself and put on a CD or DVD instead of downloading it from Windows Update.
