What did I do incorrectly? The only way I have found to get around this a low-level fomat using a manufacturer's disk utility or deleting the partitions through FDISK and trying again. In particular, it states that you might get this message when you convert your hard disk from FAT to NTFS. Are any of these drives SATA?
